Next thursday environment conference

The Environmental Council of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo  is organizing a new edition of the Atlantic Conference on the environment, to be held this coming thursday and friday 12 and nov. 13 at the Arte Juan Ismael’s center.

Again, the CAMA will involve leading experts and researchers from locations such as Canary, Azores, Madeira and the peninsula, which explain or discuss various issues of relevance to today’s global environment and local, including management of biosphere reserves in its territorial and marine areas, effects and social and economic consequences of climate change have led to the concept of global change, or the state of the ocean in the Canary Islands, among others.

Among the agencies represented at this year’s conference are the General Secretariat of UNESCO in the Canaries, the research company Oceana, Doñana Biological Station, SEO / BirdLife, the two Canarian universities or the State Agency of Meteorology, in addition to various governmental entities of the governments of the Azores, Madeira and the Canaries.

Within the schedule of the first day emphasizes the Atlantic Awards for the Environment, which will be announced at 17:00 pm on Friday. Just before this event, at 16:30 hours, the Biosphere Reserve of Fuerteventura to take another step forward with the formation of its Scientific Advisor in the framework of the Atlantic Conference.

The opening of this edition of Atlantic borne by the general secretary of the UNESCO Center Islands, Cipriano Marín. Marin will, just as he will in the second paper of the day the area manager for the Environment of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Tony Garcia, relevant and unknown aspects of the Biosphere Reserve of Fuerteventura.

The second day of the event will be devoted entirely to ‘Geocad Project: Geographic Information for citizenship in the Macaronesia’. This project of the European Union, made in the programs formerly known as Interreg and is now developing under the name of MAC (Madeira, Azores and Canary Islands), will be exposed by institutional representatives of the Macaronesian Atlantic regions, which explain various proposals related to applications of new technologies and management of their territories and most relevant environmental areas.
